Contemporary Luxury in South Melbourne

One of the highlights of working in property styling and home staging is getting to bring so many unique spaces to life. We were recently tasked with preparing a home in Pickles Street, South Melbourne, for sale. With a mixture of timeless characteristics and modern architecture, we were ready for the challenge.

This two-bedroom home has strong Victorian origins, capturing plenty of natural light with 11-foot ceilings and quaint archways. The space naturally integrates indoor and outdoor living with oversized sliding doors leading from the lounge to the outdoor patio.

The right choice of colour palettes

Any time we commence work on a new property staging or home styling project, we start by establishing the right colour palette for the space’s needs. The owners were eager for the home’s styling to capture its beautiful, traditional features while celebrating the modern updates and upgrades. This meant we needed to find a colour palette that was both timeless and sophisticated.

We leaned into black and white tones in order to achieve this balance. We also incorporated soft tones of pink, bringing warmth in with layers of soft furnishings that created a homely environment against the luxurious colour palette.

Incorporating materials

If you’ve ever stepped into an open home and noticed that it felt overly staged, you may note that the interior design choices didn’t incorporate multiple types of materials. One of the reasons our Pabs property styling services get such consistent rave reviews is because of our ability to combine various natural materials to create authentic, lived-in and elevated spaces.

In the two-bedroom Pickles St home, we made use of furniture that combined timber, glass and marble elements. Alongside the black and white colour palette, this helped to add points of interest and texture to the spacious, light-filled home.

The living room is a key focal point of the home with its mix of rich historical timber flooring and high ceilings. We brought this space to life with an oversized timber entertainment console, a round concrete coffee table and a crisp grey couch. With some soft furnishings, fresh greenery and an eye-catching piece of art, we transformed this space to show just how much easy living it was capable of without missing a beat.

Restful, inviting spaces

Potential buyers are quick to look at master bedrooms, which is why we paid such close attention to the styling and furniture choices in this interior design project. We highlighted the sophistication of the home’s in-built fireplace feature by drawing out the same black and white palette into the bedding, side tables, lamps and soft furnishings. A grey headboard also helped to draw eyes towards the room’s high ceilings, showing off the property’s features in a subtle and effective way.

With the home now available on the market, we look forward to celebrating a successful sale with the current owners.
